Our work is designed to promote the development, implementation, and use of laws, policies, and practices that benefit immigrant crime victims, women and children. NIWAP is a national expert on the legal rights and services available to immigrant victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child and elder abuse, stalking, human trafficking, and other violence, sharing this expertise through training, comprehensive publications, and technical assistance for judges, law enforcement, prosecutors, lawyers, and victim advocates nationwide. NIWAP leads national training , education, and technical assistance enhancing the knowledge and capacity of professionals to better serve immigrant survivors. This makes laws more effective. NIWAP’s legal and social science research creates the documentation that leads to transformation in laws, policies, and practices improving help for immigrant survivors. NIWAP’s policy advocacy work build’s networks of support and advises key decision makers to promotes access to justice, legal protections, social services and economic justice for immigrant crime victims and immigrant women. Through our work, NIWAP will engage a new generation of lawyers and advocates in work that benefits immigrant women, children, and immigrant survivors of domestic abuse, sexual assault, human trafficking, and other crimes.
